Tax Advice to Foreigners

Tax Advice to Non UK Nationals

At TaxSavers we can provide advice on the Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax consequences of coming to the UK from abroad, both for the short and the long term. We can also assist with helping to establish your tax-residency and domicile position, both of which have a direct bearing on how you are taxed by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in the UK. Many individuals arriving in the UK will find that they are entitled to claim ‘split year treatment’ for the tax year of arrival. This is often necessary, in order to ensure that overseas earnings prior to arrival, do not fall within the scope of UK tax. We are able to offer advice on the tax rules in this respect, and assist with the completion of a Self-Assessment tax return, should one be required. If you are in receipt of overseas income while living in the UK, there is a risk that such income may be taxed twice, both here and abroad. In certain circumstances, HMRC allows individuals to claim ‘double taxation relief’ in order to avoid such a scenario. We are able to advise on your eligibility for such a claim, and assist with any paperwork which may be required. In addition to the above, we can advise on tax efficient structures for owning UK rental properties, as well as Inheritance Tax planning for overseas individuals who have been in the UK for several years or who have settled here permanently.
